Acrylic Concrete Sealer — Cure & Seal Compound | Satin Finish

FISHSTONE-ACRYLIC is a water-based acrylic concrete sealer that delivers durable, long-term protection for interior and exterior concrete surfaces with a clean satin finish. It is effective on plain or colored concrete, concrete countertops, flatwork, masonry, and decorative concrete surfaces. It can also be applied as a cure & seal compound directly over freshly poured concrete to promote full hydration and maximum design strength.

Commonly used as a top-coat over FISHSTONE-LITHIUM silicate sealer for added protection against oils and acids.

Key Benefits

  • Easy to apply — roller, sprayer, or lamb's wool applicator
  • Breathable, water-based copolymer acrylic — allows moisture vapor transmission
  • Flexible and durable film — resists cracking and peeling
  • UV stable and non-yellowing — safe for exterior sun-exposed surfaces
  • Satin sheen — will not darken or alter concrete color
  • Will not discolor or support mold growth
  • Increases resistance to freeze/thaw cycling, deicer salts, and abrasion
  • Eliminates surface dusting on concrete flatwork
  • Can be used as a primer for subsequent decorative coatings and paints
  • VOC compliant — 65 g/L, meets Architectural Coatings Section 183(e) requirements
  • No solvents, waxes, or silicones
  • Complies with ASTM C-309 Type I, Class A or B
  • Coverage: 150–300 sq. ft. per gallon (varies by surface porosity)
  • Solids: 12.5%

Ideal Applications

FISHSTONE-ACRYLIC is used across a wide range of concrete sealing applications:

  • Concrete countertops
  • Concrete flatwork and driveways
  • Decorative and stamped concrete
  • Colored concrete
  • Interior and exterior masonry
  • Architectural concrete panels
  • Freshly poured concrete (cure & seal)
  • Concrete floors and overlays

Application Instructions

Surface Preparation: Concrete must be completely clean, dry, and free of residual stains, oils, or contaminants prior to application. An open surface profile is required — water applied to a test section should absorb easily and darken the surface. If stains are present, clean and etch the surface thoroughly and allow to dry completely before sealing.

Do not apply to: Blue Stone or overly absorbent landscape stone (susceptible to film blushing), or hard burnished non-porous steel-troweled flatwork where the sealer cannot penetrate properly.

Application Temperature: Between 40°F and 90°F. Do not apply to frozen or frost-filled surfaces. Do not apply when rain is expected within 12 hours of application.

Application: Apply evenly by sprayer or roller to the point of saturation. Avoid puddles and runs. A second coat may be applied once the first coat is dry to the touch — approximately 3 hours.

Drying & Cure Time:

  • Foot traffic: 24 hours minimum (48 hours when temperatures are below 65°F)
  • Vehicle traffic: 72 hours minimum

As a Cure & Seal on Fresh Concrete: Apply immediately after final finishing and the disappearance of surface moisture. Coverage rate is 200–300 sq. ft. per gallon. Spray application is recommended.

Cleanup: Soap and water immediately following use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the best sealer for concrete countertops? For concrete countertops, FISHSTONE-ACRYLIC is commonly applied as a topcoat over FISHSTONE-LITHIUM silicate sealer. The lithium silicate densifies and hardens the concrete surface, while the acrylic topcoat provides a sacrificial protective layer with added resistance to oils, acids, and staining.

Can this sealer be used on colored or stamped concrete? Yes — FISHSTONE-ACRYLIC is safe for plain or colored concrete and will not darken or alter the surface color. It provides a satin sheen without color enhancement.

Is this sealer safe for indoor use? Yes. FISHSTONE-ACRYLIC is water-based with virtually no odor and very low VOC levels (65 g/L), making it safe for interior applications including concrete countertops, floors, and decorative concrete.

What is the difference between a sealer and a cure & seal? A sealer is applied to existing, cured concrete to protect the surface. A cure & seal is applied to freshly poured concrete immediately after finishing — it seals in moisture to promote proper hydration and curing while simultaneously sealing the surface. FISHSTONE-ACRYLIC can be used for both purposes.

How long does an acrylic concrete sealer last? Acrylic concrete sealers are considered a maintenance-grade sealer and will require periodic reapplication depending on traffic, exposure, and surface conditions. They are easy to recoat and can serve as a primer layer for other decorative coatings.

Can acrylic sealer be used around pools or fountains? No — acrylic sealers are not recommended for surfaces with continuous or high water contact or exposure. A urethane-acrylic or solvent-based acrylic sealer is more appropriate for those environments.
